Thursday update

I am not doing so well at not buying new stuff to craft with.  I went to the thrift store and spent $50.  Now, that seems like a lot, but I bought 1 scarf, 1 cami, 1 pair of pants, 1 blazer, 1 hat, 16 shirts, a pair of baby pajamas for my friend Jen, a curtain for my bathroom, and a crocheted blanket for my couch.  Then the bad part, I bought 2 tea towels to craft with for $1, 4 quilted place mats, to sew together into a table runner, or wall hanging for $1, an embroidered wall hanging/table runner to hang on the wall$2.89, a quilted pillow sham for $1, 3 purse rods with knobs for $.25 each, and a pair of pleather pants to craft with for $1.

The scarf, 2 long sleeved t-shirts, a button up shirt, and 2 sweaters.

The cami, 3 short sleeved shirts, the blazer, and a button up white lace shirt.

The crafting stuff.  Clockwise from top left: The 2 tea towels, 3 purse rods, 4 quilted placemats, wall hanging/table runner, pleather pants, and quilted pillow sham.

Then I had to run to Michaels to buy some wool yarn to make some more 8' squares for the children in Africa.  I only had 1 skein of wool yarn and I have used it up already.  I have a lady at work bringing me some more, but in the meantime, I needed some to work with.  I didn't do too bad.  I got 1 large skein of fisherman's wool for $9 and 3 spools of trim for $1 each.  The trim was just because.
The trims are 9 ft. long and are pink - flowers and hearts, yellow - start, blue - flowers.

This is why I need a crafting intervention people.  I promised myself that I would grab the yarn and leave.  Stupid marketing studies that place bargain bins strategically in my path!

The slipper kick.

I made these awesome Mary Jane Slippers from a pattern I found here: http://www.leethal.net/zine/?p=168 .

I messed up somewhere, because I ended up with 2 left slippers, but I wear them anyways.  They are made out of 3 strands of yarn that were recycled from thrift store sweaters.

I am making another pair with Lion Brand Hometown USA.  It is a Super Bulky Acrylic in Washington Denim.  I will let you know how they turn out.

Introductions First

Hi!  My name is Tanya and I am a craftaholic.  I love crafts!  I really do.  I am obsessive about them.  I love starting new crafts and learning new ones.

My problem is collecting materials for crafts and not finishing projects.  Hence the blog!  Laura and I are working with each other to try and use the craft materials we have on hand and not buy new stuff.  This does not include any odds and ends to complete a project.
